DMP Final Artist Statement

While creating this final product, I have reinforced the knowledge that I love creating videos because it allows others to see, hear, and possibly feel some of what I experienced. I also have been reminded of how difficult technology can be to work with. I learned that creating something that I feel is worth putting my name on requires a lot of work. It requires detailed planning, careful consideration, and a lot of patience. I realized that as an educator, I want my students to be proud of their work and create something that they feel is worth putting their name on. I want to be an educator that inspires my students to put their hearts into their work. Rather than doing the bare minimum, I want my students to want to succeed. I have learned that creating art actually deals a lot with technical aspects, and this project incorporates numerous skillsets. I contributed to the project by being a part of every step of the process. I helped create our overarching theme of loss, helped desi...

DMP Media Scape Draft

We will be using Adobe Creative Cloud to create a video of our entire group, although each person will be in their own pre-recorded video. After the person shares their story, they will slide out of frame until we are left with only one person. We are also going to be using a drone to shoot a video for the beginning of our video. We are individually recording using our phones. We are using background instrumental music to create effect and ocean sounds at the ending to signify a feeling of openness. These different media sources allow us to each have responsibility for the project while also being able to come together and create our final project cohesively. Below I have shared a rough outline of the digital media plan we are going to use. Video starts Beginning - Drone shot with the voice over it Object Loss - Warms Hold the signs up with name and age (those we are telling the story of): Standing and holding up the sign Normal clothes (wearing warm colors-red, yellow, ...

DMP Pitch

My idea for the video was to have two or more interviews showing how physical human connection can influence how we tell our stories. My interview with Garrett was short, very succinct, and I realized that the fact it was over the phone could have influenced this. I want my next interview to be in person, and in the final product I want to have a wall between myself and another person as I act out Garrett's interview, and I want to be close to another person when I act out my in-person interviews. I also discussed the idea of how to do physical actions when I didn't see any, and I had the idea to have myself in a dark room where you couldn't really see my actions, or to FaceTime Garrett and familiarize myself with his mannerisms. I also mentioned how I needed to practice the cadence of speech of each interviewee to better perform them verbatim.
