7 Tech Processes Goals

1. Create a personal blog (or a blog where my students can turn in assignments): this allows me to explore this platform more, as well as engaging with other people. 2. Create a classroom that focuses on flipped lessons: this increases interaction at home and discussion in the classroom. 3. Incorporate new technology in my classroom once a month: have them turn in assignments where they need to use a certain platform, explore the technology myself and incorporate it into my lessons, etc. 4. Learn how to use a variety of platforms: Canva, Formative, Blogger, Padlet, Eling, etc. 5. To fail: I have always been scared of being the teacher who takes 7 minutes to pull up a 1 minutes YouTube video, but practice is important, and so is learning to deal with my failures! By continuing to explore technology, I will fail, but I will also become better.

Digital and Social Media Adaptation

I made a TikTok which was kind of out of my element because I don't super enjoy being filmed if I don't know what I'm doing, and I definitely felt like I didn't know what I was doing. I cut the video before I even finished it, and I wasn't sure how to go back and film more, which is why my video is only 8 seconds, versus the 15 I was shooting for. Adding gifs and text was somewhat difficult because I had to figure out how to post it to the video and then set it for a certain duration, in addition to arranging it how I wanted. I don't know if I am starting down the path of TikTok stardom, but the video was fun to make and I understand why people love it.  It allowed me to be creative in a media form that I haven't really dabbled in before. I have made short movies or slideshows with iMovie and other platforms that I'm familiar with, and TikTok was a platform that I wanted to explore because I know how popular it is becoming. This assignment, along wit...

Thinking and Writing About Digital Media

In reference to creating media, I tend to primarily create poetry. I have recently begun to delve into lyrical essays, as well as performing at poetry slams. Words are an important source of truth and goodness, and I want to be a part of creating more of that in the world. I also absolutely love making or filming funny videos with my younger sisters that have a vibe similar to TikTok videos. These creations make me feel like more of who I am, and they allow me to showcase sides of myself that people normally don't get to see or experience. After some reflection, I have realized that I create the media I do because it brings me joy, and it creates human connection.  In reference to consumption, media is like chocolate. I almost never say no to it, although I don't consider it an addiction, merely something that I enjoy. Unless I have too much of it, that is. At this moment in my life, my media use is primarily textbooks and school related sources, so my media consumptions habit...

Agency Photography

Image
This picture represents agency to me because I feel as if I am being pulled in a million different directions, and I use my agency to decide where to go. I have my computer, representing a million distractions and resources, both good and bad. I have a pile of books, textbooks, and journals, showing that I can choose what to spend my time on, but ultimately, my scriptures at the far right of the picture are the best thing I can be spending my time on/with.
