Agency Photography
This picture represents agency to me because I feel as if I am being pulled in a million different directions, and I use my agency to decide where to go. I have my computer, representing a million distractions and resources, both good and bad. I have a pile of books, textbooks, and journals, showing that I can choose what to spend my time on, but ultimately, my scriptures at the far right of the picture are the best thing I can be spending my time on/with.
I think it really resonated with me the fact that we are being pulled in many different ways and our agency is so vital to these decisions. It made me expand the notion of how important my agency is and how much is competing with it. My question is why do you think there is so much guilt by spending our time on other things that we are learning and growing from besides our scriptures or something connected to the Church?
ReplyDeleteEmma, I totally resonated with your description and photo! Lately especially, I've been feeling stretched really thin, and sometimes I feel like I don't have agency in my school life. Of course I do have agency, but I think I've trained myself to think that there's only one way to do things: get ALL my work done on time, keep up with ALL of my friends, be a part of ALL of the extracurricular things, etc. It's so important to remember that we really can choose what we spend our time with. Now I need to just shift my choices from watching Netflix to reading books :)
