7 Tech Processes Goals

1. Create a personal blog (or a blog where my students can turn in assignments): this allows me to explore this platform more, as well as engaging with other people.
2. Create a classroom that focuses on flipped lessons: this increases interaction at home and discussion in the classroom.
3. Incorporate new technology in my classroom once a month: have them turn in assignments where they need to use a certain platform, explore the technology myself and incorporate it into my lessons, etc.
4. Learn how to use a variety of platforms: Canva, Formative, Blogger, Padlet, Eling, etc.
5. To fail: I have always been scared of being the teacher who takes 7 minutes to pull up a 1 minutes YouTube video, but practice is important, and so is learning to deal with my failures! By continuing to explore technology, I will fail, but I will also become better.

  1. I love that you have a specific goal to fail. It's so honest and really telling of how life is going to be once we are "real life" teachers. Also, in the videos the concept of flipped lessons was so interesting. It makes so much sense to have the students learn the material before the actual class period. I felt like it could be similar to doing assigned readings before class. Which I am sometimes guilty of forgetting to do, so I wonder how effective it would be when applied. I think that all of your points are really good goals that I want to add to my list!

  2. Emma,

Thanks for being honest and real. Media creation feels vulnerable to me, and so I get where you are coming from. So thank you for having a goal to take risks and fail! As for your other goals, I love that you are trying to increase your media literacy and help your students do the same! I think that there is some benefit to using one type of media (such a blog) long-term as well as using other new media throughout the year. One note about flipped learning. Try it in different ways! Some students may not have access to technology or internet at home, but there are other ways that you can do flipped learning. I encourage you to continue to investigate that further!

Sorry for the long comment. Thank you for your work in this class! Good job!
    Kate
